《論語》《學而》1.16 :

子曰：「不患人之不己知，患不知人也。」

The Master said, “I will not be afflicted at men’s not knowing me;      I will be afflicted that I do not know men.”

【Alternative translation】The Master said, “Not to be known is no sorrow [regret]. My sorrow [regret] is not knowing men.”

【原文】子曰：「不患人之不己知，患不知人也。」

【白话解】孔子说：「不必忧虑别人不知道我，应该忧虑我不能了解别人。」 ※（求他人的了解是求其在他，君子求其在我。不知人则无法祖述尧、舜、禹、汤、文、武、周公，故知人是进德修业所必须。）

【试译】孔子说：“不怕别人不理解自己，只怕自己不理解别人。”
