《論語》《公冶长》5.20 :

季文子三思而後行。子聞之，曰：「再，斯可矣。」

Ji Wen thought thrice, and then acted. When the Master was informed of it, he said, “Twice may do.”

【Alternative translation】Chi Wen thought thrice before acting. On hearing this the Master said, “Twice is enough.”

【原文】季文子三思而后行。子闻之，曰：「再，斯可矣！」

【白话解】季文子这个人，遇事总是要经过三次思考然后再做。孔子说：「思考两次也就够了。」

※ 按钱穆先生就左传所载，季文子为人行事，于祸福利害，计较过细，多思转为多私，不足称道。

【试译】季文子凡事要反复琢磨多次才付诸行动。孔子听到后，说：“想两遍就够了。”
