《論語》《子張》19.13 :

子夏曰：「仕而優則學，學而優則仕。」

Zi Xia said, Tzu-hsia said, “A servant of the crown should give his spare strength to learning. With his spare strength a scholar should serve the crown.”

【Alternative translation】Tzu-hsia said, “A servant of the crown should give his spare strength to learning. With his spare strength a scholar should serve the crown.”

【現代漢語翻譯】子夏說：「當官當得好時還應該注意學習，學習學得好時就應該去當官。」
